The Bomet P475 is a potato hiller (ridger) from the Polish manufacturer Bomet, designed to form and maintain earth ridges over rows of planted potatoes during the growing season. Hilling protects the developing tubers from light (preventing potatoes from greening), improves drainage of excess water, and makes later mechanized harvesting easier. The machine has 3 working sections, allowing simultaneous work on three rows of potatoes in a single pass, significantly speeding up work compared to single-row implements. Working depth is 10 cm, sufficient to form a standard ridge without damaging the plants' root system. Spacing between the working sections is adjustable from 62.5 to 75 cm, allowing adaptation to the various row spacings used at planting, depending on potato variety and soil type. Operation requires a tractor of 26 HP, moderately demanding for this type of implement. Machine weight is 105 kg, the lowest among all the Bomet potato-equipment products in this range, thanks to a simple construction with no hydraulic or powered elements — the hiller works purely mechanically, shaping the soil via its working bodies as the tractor moves along the row. Its low weight and simple construction make the P475 easy to mount, transport and maintain, with no need to connect to the tractor's power take-off shaft, unlike the potato diggers in the same range. This machine is typically used during the crop-care phase, between planting and lifting the potatoes, complementing the planters and diggers in the Bomet range to make a complete mechanized potato-production cycle accessible to smaller and medium farms.
