FLIPPER 186

The Del Morino Flipper 186 is a mulcher, made in Italy, from the standard, fixed-centre Flipper line, the second-largest model in the range. Working width is 186 cm (72”), while the overall machine width is 205 cm (82”). Power is transmitted via a three-belt transmission with an automatic tensioner. The rotor is fitted with 56 Y-blades or 28 flails, depending on the configuration chosen, able to chop branches up to 5 cm in diameter. The gearbox is made of cast iron, runs at 540 rpm, is fitted with a freewheel device and a through-shaft allowing further drive transfer to a potential additional attachment. The rear roller is height-adjustable, allowing precise control of mowing height. The machine mounts to the tractor via a 3-point hitch, categories 1 and 2. Machine weight is 324 kg. Required tractor power remains in the same 15 to 70 HP range as all models in the line, though in practice, working with wider spans like this one is best done with a tractor toward the upper end of that range to maintain efficient working speed. The wide working surface makes the Flipper 186 suited to larger meadows, pastures and overgrown plots where a significant area needs covering in as few passes as possible. As with the other models in the line, the choice between Y-blades and flails allows the rotor to be matched to the vegetation type — Y-blades suit finer grassy material better, while flails handle coarser, woody material and stony terrain better. The gearbox's through-shaft further allows an additional attachment behind the mulcher to be driven as well, extending the machine's versatility beyond vegetation chopping alone.
