Silage machine S-HCH65

The Celmak S-HCH65 is a single-row silage machine, fitted with its own transmission and a complete hydraulic system, designed for harvesting and chopping maize and other silage crops directly in the field. The 650 mm working width matches a single crop row, suited to standard row spacing for maize grown for silage. Cutting and chopping of the plant material is handled by 12 cutting blades, which cut the stalk into fragments 4 to 7 cm long, ideal for compaction and fermentation in the silo. The machine is driven via the PTO shaft turning at 540 rpm, with a working speed of 8 to 10 km/h. Machine dimensions are 3,900 mm long, 2,400 mm wide and 3,380 mm tall. Working capacity is 20 to 25 tonnes per hour, allowing a larger area under silage crops to be processed quickly, crucial during the short window of optimal ripeness for ensiling maize. Machine weight is 640 kg. Operation requires a 50 HP tractor, sufficient to simultaneously drive the cutting unit, transmission and complete hydraulic system. Thanks to its own transmission and integrated hydraulics, the S-HCH65 requires no additional external equipment to operate, simplifying machine preparation before harvest begins. Its single-row configuration makes this machine a suitable choice for smaller and medium farms ensiling maize on more modest areas, where multi-row machines of higher throughput wouldn't be economically justified. The evenness of the cut fragment length directly affects the quality of subsequent fermentation in the silo — fragments that are too short speed up nutrient loss, while overly long ones hinder compaction and encourage mould growth, so the precision of the 12 cutting blades is key to obtaining stable, quality silage throughout the storage period.
