The Celmak rotary hay rake with a 3.8 m working width is one of the most modern machines designed for gathering mown grass mass. The machine collects clean grass mass, free of unwanted admixtures such as soil, stones and the like, yielding feed of excellent quality. In addition, using this machine avoids tangling and compacting the swath, considerably easing and speeding up the baling process that follows collection. The 3.8 m working width ensures efficient coverage of a larger area per pass, while a road width of just 1.2 m eases transport between fields and on public roads. Gathering is handled by 9 raking arms, or collecting-element carriers, fitted with a total of 27 springs that reliably catch the mown grass without damaging the plant material. The machine mounts to the tractor via a 3-point hitch, a standard, stable mounting method. Operation requires a 45 HP tractor, with the PTO shaft turning at 540 rpm, standard for this class of implement. Working output is 1.2 hectares per hour, allowing a larger mown area to be gathered quickly, particularly important during unsettled weather when hay needs to be prepared for baling as soon as possible. The combination of a wide working width and a narrow transport footprint makes this machine practical both for work on large open meadows and for transport on narrow country roads between plots.
