RDM 165

The Celmak RDM 165 is a rotary mower designed for mowing grass on meadows and pastures, the larger model in the RDM range of rotary mowers. Mowing is handled by 2 rotary drums fitted with a total of 6 blades, ensuring a clean, even cut without uprooting plants. Working width is 1,650 mm, considerably wider than the smaller RDM 135 model (1,350 mm), allowing faster coverage of a larger area per pass. Machine weight is 400 kg, somewhat more than the smaller model, in line with the reinforced construction needed for the greater working width. The machine is driven via the PTO shaft turning at 540 rpm, with a working speed of 8 to 10 km/h. Operation requires a 40 HP tractor, stronger than the RDM 135's requirement (30 HP), in line with the wider working width. Working output is 1.5 hectares per hour, the same as the smaller model, thanks to a balanced ratio of cutting width and working speed. As optional equipment, a protective curtain is available with an optional hydraulic piston, shielding the operator and surroundings from thrown stones and debris during mowing, particularly useful when working near roads or populated areas. Compared to the smaller RDM 135, the RDM 165 offers greater productivity per working width at the cost of a somewhat higher tractor-power requirement, making it a better choice for medium and larger farms with tractors of matching power. The rotary two-drum cutting principle ensures stable operation even on slightly uneven terrain, while the optional protective curtain further reduces the risk of injury or property damage from thrown objects during operation, particularly relevant given the wider working width and higher working speed.
