The Bellon D4L is a belt-drive side disc mower, from the DL3-DL8 mower line designed for mid-size farms needing robust but affordable equipment for efficient mowing. The strength of these machines lies precisely in combining efficiency with a low price. Working width is 167 cm, considerably wider than the smaller D3L model (130 cm), provided by 4 discs with 3 blades each, suited to medium and larger meadows and pastures. The hydraulic lift raises the mower vertically, ensuring safe, stable transport — no part of the mower protrudes beyond the tractor's footprint in the transport position. A breakaway mechanism lets the blade bar swing backward to avoid terrain obstacles, after which the machine easily returns to the working position. A dual hydraulic piston system allows the mower to optimally follow ground contours, keeping it parallel to the ground through every working phase, ensuring even load distribution and optimal protection of soil and turf. The machine is driven via the PTO shaft turning at 540 rpm, and mounts to the tractor via a 3-point hitch, with a category II frame, the same as the smaller model. Operation requires a 40 HP tractor, higher than the D3L's requirement (30 HP), in line with the wider working width and greater number of discs and blades. Machine weight is 390 kg, more than the D3L model (325 kg), reflecting the more robust construction needed for the wider span. The greater number of discs and blades compared to the D3L allows higher-quality mowing across a wider working surface in a single pass, making the D4L a more productive choice for medium farms with larger meadows, while retaining the same hitch category and hydraulic ground-following principle as the smaller model.
